Island Hopping / Exploring the local Seaweed Farming Tradition (Full-Day Tour)
Carrageenan, a food enhancer which has been used in processing food, such as in thickening sauces, emulsifying and preserving, and even used in cosmetics, is sourced from a vegetable that grows in the sea—the seaweed.
The Philippines is known to have more than 800 species of seaweed, two of which are used in farms to extract the carrageenan. These are the Eucheuma and Kappaphycus, both locally known as guso, tambalang or kanot-kanot.
Following breakfast at Sader Beach Club, we will travel to the local Barangay of Amogues, where we will utilise some of the boats and crew of the local seaweed farming community. From there we will begin our travels, and affording our guests an excellent visual tour of the workings of this industry as we venture out to visit some of the local islands, enjoying the beaches and swimming/snorkeling opportunities with our own refreshments plus maybe some local delights courtesy of our hosts from the farming community.
San Vicente (Full-Day Tour)
The beautiful town of San Vicente is in the northwestern part of Palawan, around 1 hour from Taytay. It is home to the longest (14.7km) white sand beach in Philippines (second longest in southeast Asia), appropriately named Long Beach.
